| Faith:
FAMILY:
Born in Boston, all we know about Faith's family is her rare
mentions of her alcoholic mother. She has said that her mother never
loved her. Her father and any other family she might have are never
mentioned. Mayor Wilkins was a surrogate father for her when they
were working together.
EDUCATION & CAREER:
Faith dropped out of school. She has never been shown to have a job
other than being a Slayer.
VAMPIRES, DEMONS & THE
SUPERNATURAL:
Faith was called to be a Slayer after Kendra was killed. Her first
watcher in Boston and was brutally killed by Kakistos. Faith fled to
Sunnydale and met Buffy and her friends. Unfortunately Kakistos
followed her and she had to get Buffy to help to defeat him. In
Sunnydale, Giles took over as caretaker Watcher until Gwendolyn Post
arrived. Faith was duped into believing Miss Post and was only
stopped from killing Angel by Buffy. This triggered the first of
their fights.
After this incident things were
strained between the two Slayers until the new Watcher showed up,
Wesley. Faith took Buffy Slaying the way she thought it should be
done - want, take, and have. Unfortunately, this led to Faith
accidentally killing Finch. She couldn't handle it and Angel stepped
in to try and help her. It might have worked but for Wesley
kidnapping her. She escaped and swapped to the other side, now
working for the Mayor.
While under the Mayor's care, Faith's
actions became immoral. She tried to turn Angel back to Angelus,
kidnapped Willow, killed and helped the Mayor try to destroy the
town of Sunnydale. It all stopped when Faith poisoned Angel with a
poison that could only be cured by the blood of a Slayer. Buffy and
her fought to the death and Faith ended up being stabbed by Buffy in
the gut. She survived but not without being in a coma for eight
months.
When she woke, she went after Buffy
for payback. The Mayor had given her a device that swapped Buffy's
and Faith's bodies into each other. While in Buffy's body, Faith
slept with Buffy's boyfriend, but also saved the life of a young
woman. She was going to skip town but instead went to save a group
of churchgoers from vampires. Buffy managed to swap their bodies
back and Faith left Sunnydale.
She turned up in LA where Wolfram and
Hart hired her to kill Angel. She used the torture of Wesley as a
way to attract Angel's attention and when he showed up, instead of
killing him she begged Angel to kill her. Angel didn't but rather
helped her realise that she could redeem herself. That was until
four groups of people were after her - the police, Buffy, Wolfram
and Hart and the Council of Watchers. She ended up confessing her
crimes willingly and taking the first step to redemption. The last
time we saw her she was doing okay in jail.

Kate:
FAMILY:
Kate's mother died when she was young. She feels her father never
really loved her after her mother died. Her father was a cop and she
became one when she thought he forgot how to be one. Trevor Lockley
was killed by vampires and though Angel tried to save him, Kate
partially blames Angel for his death.
EDUCATION & CAREER:
Kate was a good cop until the death of her father. She has several
commendations and awards to her credit. When her father died her
career suffered as a result. She started taking cases that seemed
supernatural. This led to her being nicknamed 'Scully' and other
such names. She was moved out of the Metro Division into a smaller
division because of her obsession with chasing these supernatural
cases.
VAMPIRES, DEMONS & THE
SUPERNATURAL:
Kate doesn't find out about the supernatural until she learned that
Angel is a vampire. Before that she had a crush on him. They met
chasing a serial killer that Kate had no idea was a demon. She also
had no idea why people are acting so sensitive in the episode Sense
and Sensitivity. It is only after tracking Penn, who she thinks is a
serial killer that she learns the truth about Angel. At first, she
doesn't want to believe but when she finally does she threatens to
kill Angel. Angel saves her life after Penn kidnaps and she made the
choice not to kill him.
A couple of months later she is
coming to terms with the 'evil things' and Angel's nature until her
father is killed. From then on, she vows to rid LA of vampires and
the like. She threatens Angel's life when he won't give up Faith's
location. And is still mad at him when he refuses to stay at the
crime scene of the office building bomb blast. It is at that time
they become enemies.
When Darla shows up Kate is angry
with everyone at Angel Investigations for fighting their big battles
where innocent people are getting killed and at Angel's employees
for trying to protect him. When Angel saves her life by biting her,
things begin to change again. When Angel is arrested after breaking
into Wolfram and Hart, Kate lets him go so he can try and stop Darla
and Dru from causing more damage.
FUN FACT:
Kate doesn't like speaking in public
Faith & Kate:
On screen they have only had one scene together: when Faith states
her desire to confess. However since Kate was a detective on Faith's
case it means they probably spent some time together.
